Taking Flight to Friday Harbor

Our Monitor outreach project took flight again! This time more literally. I'm very pleased to share that we were able to do outreach work for our northernmost committee members, the Christian Science Society in Friday Harbor, courtesy of Kenmore Air!

Welcome to Kenmore Air Harbor on the north end of Lake Washington!

We were all up extra early on Thursday to catch a 7:30AM flight from Kenmore Air Harbor on the northernmost end of Lake Washington. We had a wonderful opportunity to spend some quality time with Gregg Munro, owner of Kenmore Air, which is "among the best-known and most respected seaplane operations in the world."

When it was time to board the flight, Gregg accompanied us down the dock to the plane and helped us get some good photos. Izzy was quick to volunteer for the shotgun seat in the plane when the pilot asked.

After a memorable flight they were delivered to the Friday Harbor marina downtown. From there they walked up the hill to the Christian Science Society where they met Jennifer Rice, who gave them some ideas on where to offer Monitor gift subscriptions.

Welcome to Friday Harbor, on San Juan Island, near Canada

After handing out Monitor sample copies (the Seaweed Inc and Indiginous Renewal issues) and offering gift subscriptions, plus some free time around town and the island, they caught a 6:15 p.m. flight back, with a quick stop on Lopez Island, then back to Kenmore Air Harbor. Just another day's work as an outreach worker on our "Compass the City" project -- but a very special and memorable one for us all!

BIG thanks to Don and Gregg for making this very special day possible!
