Half-Way Through!
Since last time, our outreach workers Haley Hill and Izzy Marvin have covered West Seattle, Wallingford, and Fremont (where they found the Bridge Troll).
They spent these last two very hot days in Bellevue, covering downtown, staying cool inside the Bellevue Square mall for much of the time, and they made it to the outdoor mall area where Second Church Bellevue is located.
All this focus on outreach with the Monitor is stirring thought in new directions for many of our local church members receiving these emails. People have shared with me new interest in doing outreach at their local farmer's markets, offering Monitor sample copies and gift subscriptions to local businesses they frequent, and the desire to frequent the local businesses who accepted Monitor gift subscriptions. Joint Literature's logistics officer, Josh Draskovich, showed me his recent purchase of a jar of Smuckers strawberry jam, another great way to support the Monitor!
Hard to believe, but we have passed the half-way point on our "Compass the City" Monitor outreach project. Only 3 more weeks of active outreach, then we'll spend a few days wrapping up and documenting the project. For those who want to see our work-in-progress list of where we have found receptivity to gift subscriptions so far, we have a list we can send you.
You can help! Please reach out and offer Monitor gifts subscriptions to businesses, nonprofits, community leaders, friends or family, or anyone else. The Christian Science Monitor just offered us a special deal. If we place 150 1-year gift subscriptions (which we have budget for), they will give us the very special bulk price of $99 each. So offer away! Email names and addresses to CSLitDist@gmail.com by Tuesday, August 16.
