Recruiting outreach workers at Principia College

Izzy Marvin, one of our previous outreach workers (2022 & 2023), has been recruiting for us on Principia College campus. Nothing beats face to face interactions — whether for Christian Science outreach work, or for recruiting workers. This has been clearly proven over the last few weeks.

We have been doing email blasts to try to recruit workers for our 2024 Monitor outreach project. We’ve sent out promotional pitches to lots of email addresses, hoping to reach Christian Science college students and recent graduates. We’ve emailed all the CSOs and Asher Houses in the country. We’ve asked the Principia Career Office, Discovery Bound, and NLC to promote for us, and emailed to individuals. The response, however, was very disappointing. It was …. nothing. No one. Zip. Zilch.

By April 2024, it seemed necssary to try something more. Izzy was up to the task. She reserved a table in the Concourse, the main student activities center on campus, just outside the cafeteria, and manned it during dinner time.

We also sent her copies of the Monitor Weekly with a sticker with a QR code pointing to our CSLitDist.com/jobs webpage to distribute around campus in strategic locations.

The result this time was very different. Suddenly there was LOTS of interest. We had an abundance of applications, have had many interviews. Within a couple of weeks, we had our 2024 team! — which we’ll announce at our Annual Meeting on Saturday, April 27.
