Meet our 2024 Monitor outreach team
Our third time around the Seattle metro area sharing The Christian Science Monitor Weekly, also known as the "Compass the City" 2024 outreach project, is about to begin! Boxes of bulk Monitors have just started to arrive. And most importantly, we have our 2024 outreach team in place!

We have a great team! Izzy Marvin, who just graduated from Principia College, and Lusho Hambiliki and Cindy Obi-Njoku, both Principia College international students who will be doing this work as internships related to their majors, which allows them to legally work in the USA on their student VISA. Meet our team:
Izzy Marvin
Hi everyone, it’s Izzy Marvin! I am so happy to be back in Seattle working with the Monitor outreach project. I have worked this program for 2 years prior, this being my third year. As time has progressed my roles have evolved. When I first started working for this project I was just an outreach worker, however during my second summer I interned and took on a little more responsibility. Last summer I assisted in developing the project further by assisting in decisions on how the project could improve and operate. This summer I am in a new position and I am so excited! This summer I am in more of a management and project development role. This summer I will be training our amazing team, Cindy and Lusho. This is their first summer working on this project so I will start by introducing the basics and teaching them the ropes of this job! I am beyond grateful to be back in Seattle for the short time I have here and cannot wait for myself and our team to share all of the adventures we will go on as the summer progresses!
Lusho Hambiliki
Hey! My name is Lusho, I’m 19 years old and I’m from Lusaka Zambia. I just completed my sophomore year at Principia College and I’m looking forward to being an RA next fall. I’m REALLY excited about this program because I’m taking it as an internship and I have some family in the area. I heard about this program through a friend, and I thought it would be convenient since I was going to be in Seattle for the summer so I decided to apply. The application process was kind of long because I’m an international student so I had to go through a lot of legal procedures but I enjoyed working with Cindy through this and I am so grateful that I get to work here this summer!. During this project, I hope to connect with the different communities we travel to and connect with the amazing group of people I’ll be working with. I’m also excited to travel around because despite being here for 3 summers, I still don’t know many places. I am so excited and I can’t wait to get started
Cindy Obi-Njoku
Hello, my name is Cindy Obi-Njoku and I am from Nigeria. I am a sophomore at Principia College currently interning at the Christian Science Monitor Literature Distribution Joint in Bothell, Seattle and I cannot wait to see how it turns out.
I heard about this project from Izzy Marvin, a fellow student and two-time intern for the joint. Izzy put up flyers in school and I came across one of them. After reading the job description, I was intrigued and signed up for it.
I was excited to work here because it just felt right for me. I also see it as an opportunity to travel, interact with people and learn new skills. I hope to also explore opportunities the city has to offer. I wish to put in the skills I have learnt so far in life into making this project work.
