Queen Anne Farmers Market

By Izzy Marvin

Hello! Today was the first day I attended the Queen Anne Farmers Market! Today felt amazing! I was so pleased that I was able to hold my stand at the market today!

The weather was absolutely perfect for a market today! Through my day I noticed the main attendees of the farmers market were mainly middle and high school kids, married couples (both young and older), seniors, and dogs. There were also A LOT of other groups/organizations advertising their products or services in addition to the regular stations in the market, so this farmers market was very lively.

Through the day many people took sample copies of The Christian Science Monitor Weekly. There were two couples that were interested in a sample copy. One younger couple and one older couple. Each group took one sample copy. A little while after this a group of what I assume were middle school boys came up to my table and were asking about what the Monitor was, and three of them took a sample copy. As the day progressed I got to talking to two different rescue committee members and they both took a copy at separate times!

One amazing that that happened was an older gentleman approached me and we had a conversation about Christian Science and his thoughts on other religions. After this conversation he brought me cold water because it was hot out today. This made my day!

After this one older woman expressed her interest in The Monitor and so did a gentleman who was biking. I had a similar encounter as I had while working at the Wallingford Farmers Market. A family came up with a 7 year old daughter and 4 year old son and the mother grabbed an issue of The Monitor that was about “Raising Boys To Be Caring and Strong”. I also had two separate women approach me that both were carrying suitcases and they each took a sample copy as well as all of the others.

Through the day I had others approach me and ask about The Monitor but they did not take any sample copies, that is okay though because I am still building awareness of this amazing literature.

Overall I loved this market. It was full of love and so much energy and excitement. I am so happy I was able to hand out 13 sample copies and build further awareness of The CS Monitor. I am excited to attend this market next week!
