A Delightful Day on Bainbridge Island
By Lusho Hambiliki
Thursday, June 20, Cindy and I went on an exciting journey to Bainbridge Island, a location we had never seen before. The day seemed to be very exciting not just because of where we were going but also because we would be traveling by ferry, which would add a little something new to the day.
Our day began earlier than normal to ensure that we made the ferry on schedule. We rode the light rail to downtown then walked the rest of the way to the ferry terminal. After getting our tickets, as we boarded the ferry, we enjoyed being treated to beautiful views of Seattle, made much more pleasurable by the warm, bright weather.
When we arrived at Bainbridge Island, we went to the Christian Science Reading Room and were welcomed warmly by Nancy Fuerst, the Bainbridge representative for the Christian Science Literature Distribution Committee, and another Bainbridge church member, Bunny Cottingham-Kleckner. They were so lovely and made us feel at home.
We even snapped a photo near the "You Are Loved" sign. Nancy supplied us with maps and recommended the best spots for us to distribute. As we were leaving, she gave us chocolates and a Starbucks gift card, making our visit even more special.
Bainbridge Island is a beautiful, tourist-friendly place, full of cute restaurants and stores. The people we met were incredibly receptive and friendly, which made our task of distributing sample copies a joy. We were also able to give out six free gift subscriptions.
We ate lunch at Doc's Marina Grill, which had wonderful food and a nice environment. We kept exploring, feeling refreshed and happy, despite the fact that the day's activities were catching up with us. Just as we were ready to leave, we noticed the island's art museum and couldn't resist passing by for some time.
It was eventually time to head back. When we think back on the day, we were happy about the things we had done and the friendly encounters we had with the people. Bainbridge Island has to be one of my favorite places I have visited so far and I would definitely visit again.
