Lemons into Lemonade in Juanita

By Izzy Marvin

Hello everyone! On Friday, July 5, I attended, or attempted to attend, the Juanita Farmers Market on the beach along the shore of northern Lake Washington on the east side. Before making the long journey to Juanita I had called multiple times in order to ensure I would be able to hold my station in or around the farmers market. But once I arrived I was told that I was unable to set up anywhere near the market. This was frustrating because I did what I could to prepare.

Since I was unable to set up my table in the market I had to adapt. I decided to do outreach work in the area. I visited and was able to gift free sample copies to the 16 retail locations in the area, and I placed three gift subscriptions in the commercial district.

I am also working on extra outreach projects focusing on rehabilitation centers in the Seattle area. A few days ago I created a list of all the rehabilitation centers in the area as well as their phone numbers. I started calling this list but did not finish or give any gift subscriptions.

Overall I am pleased I was able to turn the day into a productive one even though plans changed.
