Exploring Everett: A Day of Surprises and Sunshine

By Lusho Hambiliki

Cindy and I went on a great journey to Everett on Monday, July 8. Being the first time any of the distribution teams had visited, this visit was especially special!

Our journey began with a bus ride. We got off at Broadway Street, ready to explore and distribute. The street was lined with a few restaurants and shops. After going through Broadway street, we embarked on a 20-minute walk to what we thought was a “busier” area.

To our surprise, we stumbled upon a large campus. Initially, we thought it was a university, but further exploration revealed it was actually the Snohomish County Jail. Neither Cindy nor I had ever visited a jail, so we decided to check it out. We were greeted by a friendly police officer who graciously allowed us to leave copies of the Christian Science Monitor Weekly. She even suggested additional places where we could distribute more copies, including a cafe near the courthouse.

Following her advice, we headed to the nearby cafe. There, another kind individual accepted the Monitor sample copies. Surrounded by courthouses and law enforcement buildings, we were fascinated by the orderly environment.

Continuing our exploration, we discovered the true busy commercial area of Everett. Although the city was less populated than other places we had visited, we enjoyed going into the different streets and stores. We admired various art sculptures, and Cindy and I had a lot of fun interacting with them.

One challenge we encountered was the limited availability of open places on a Monday. Many establishments were closed, making it difficult to find new spots to visit in this unfamiliar area.

Fortunately, the beautiful weather made our long walks more pleasant. Despite the challenges, we successfully distributed all 100 sample copies of the Christian Science Monitor Weekly and even secured one gift subscription! Feeling accomplished, we decided to have lunch at a sushi place that had accepted our sample copies. The sushi was delicious and provided a perfect end to our day.

On the way home, I realized I was missing a few rings that I adore. I'm hopeful that I’ll find them.

Overall, our day in Everett was filled with sunshine, new experiences, and meaningful interactions. We made the most of the lovely weather and enjoyed every moment of our adventure.
