Amazing day in Green Lake & Roosevelt
By Izzy Marvin
Bella and Izzy were so excited to do outreach work in East Green Lake and Roosevelt. The girls went on Friday May 26th before their long Memorial Day weekend and the weather was A-MAZ-ING!
As soon as the girls arrived to East Green Lake they formed a plan. In order to improve organization and create a path of where they had been, the girls wrote down all of the streets they distributed on so they can be added to the projects map.
The girls worked on the plaza areas in East Green Lake close to the park and water access. Many people in this area seemed to be excited to receive sample copies of The Christian Science Monitor Weekly. One place accepted a Monitor Weekly gift subscription.
After the two main plazas were completed by Green Lake the girls grabbed lunch and enjoyed the park and the water, and loved it! This is one of Izzy’s favorite spots and Bella also loved it a lot.

After the girls break, they headed down Roosevelt Way. They distributed along this whole commercial area road as well as up and down the side streets. No further gift subscriptions were given out but the girls had a great experience. The girls went into a local pop-up shop and talked to the two workers inside and found out one of the individuals worked for the Monitor many years ago and loved the Monitor. He did not take a subscription due to him and his family going on a long trip but it was fun for the girls to find someone who had hands on experience with the Monitor and heard a little bit about behind the scenes.
