Enumclaw Outreach with breathtaking mountain views
By Cindy Obi-Njoku
Hello dear reader, Cindy here. On the 16th of July Lusho, Cindy Safronoff and I did outreach with The Christian Science Monitor Weekly in Enumclaw. On our way to Enumclaw, we took a detour to see Mount Rainier. We left Seattle at 6am and arrived at Mount Rainier National Park about two hours later and drove to the Paradise Lodge area.
Then we began hiking up toward the mountain. During our ascent, we were met by a good number of mischievous chipmunks and…. Both species seemed to be tussling for reasons unknown to us humans.
We hiked up until we got to the snow, where we made snow angels.
Once we had our fill of beautiful views, fauna and oxygen deprivation, we began our descent. We left the mountain for a picnic spot which we found about 6 miles from where we were. We sat at a table feasting on our packed lunches as tiny flies feasted on our delicate bodies.
When we were done eating, we drove to Enumclaw, arriving about 1:00pm. The City of Enumclaw is a small town surrounded by breathtaking views of mountains.
Our first stop, as usual, was the Christian Science Reading Room, which is on the side of the church building for First Church of Christ, Scientist, Enumclaw.
At the Reading Room we met Joan Lazarus and Jim Earnshaw. They were very welcoming and showed us a map of the area with information for our outreach work in the downtown commercial district.
The people in Enumclaw were receptive and we placed two gift subscriptions there.
