Stormy day at U-District Farmers Market

Hello everyone, today I attended the University District farmers market. I started my day by doing my daily morning metaphysical work, or what the outreach team likes to call “daily armor”. After this I set up my station at the farmers market. Overall today was a difficult day but it did have a few good moments.

The day started with many people approaching my station wanting to have an argument about Christian Science itself as well as about The Christian Science Monitor. I felt that this was one bad experience after another. After a few of these experiences I spoke with Cindy Safronoff and decided it was best to read the sermon on the mount again! After this I felt more refreshed and had a more positive mindset.

My friend Mannie, a farmers market vendor who sells strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, asparagus, and grape juice, approached me and gave me a carton of strawberries! Mannie has done this for me almost every Saturday I work at this farmers market, so kind!!

After this a young couple that attends the University of Washington came up and was very interested in The Monitor, and they took a couple sample copies. It was great to see fellow young individuals be interested in this amazing literature. A little while later I was feeling unwell and almost decided to stop doing outreach at the market but then took a second of silence to correct my thoughts and continued at the market!

One thing I love about the University District farmers market is all of the different people playing live music. There was a man with a speaker and a saxophone who was playing music along to the music playing on the speaker and many people came up and sang the songs with him. I love this because it is an expression of loving the neighbor and spreading God’s Joy, Peace, and Love. One man that works for the international rescue committee for the farmers market came up eager to grab a sample copy. Another man of another religion came up to grab a copy of the Monitor and was asking about it. Once I explained he said he wouldn’t have minded if it was a religious news magazine and said he was open to looking into Christian religions, that was pretty amazing.

As soon as the market ended it started raining, what a beautiful expression of God!! Something I have done for years and really value during my time here in Seattle is reflecting on all of the positive things that I encounter each day. Today I focused on how grateful I am for God and the concept of Truth because it has gotten me through so many trials throughout my life as well as difficult days like today and has allowed me to correct my thought. With the thought of Truth I was able to let my light shine and represent the perfect reflection of God.

Another thing I am grateful for today is the weather! Today was supposed to be storming and raining but there was a patch of blue skies over the farmers market throughout the morning and into the early afternoon.
