A Smorgasbord of treats in Burien

By Lusho Hambiliki

On Wednesday, June 5, Cindy and I went to Burien. Our day began with reading the Sermon on the Mount, setting a good tone for our journey.

We made our way to the light rail station and got off at Angle Lake, where we were warmly welcomed by Merry Anne Peterson, our enthusiastic host of the day. Merry Anne’s presence was so fun to have around as she accompanied us throughout the day. The area is quite spread out, so we drove to various destinations.

We stopped for lunch at Wally’s Chowder House, one of Merry Anne’s favorite restaurants. The food was so good, and the conversation was even better. Merry shared fascinating stories about her adventurous family.

After lunch, we headed to Des Moines Beach to bask in the amazing weather. The beach was a perfect place to enjoy serene views and we were happy to see baby geese.

We continued the distribution and we were able to hand out all sample copies and 5 gift subscriptions.

Having some extra time, Merry Anne invited us to her home. There, we engaged in more meaningful conversations and we were treated to what seemed like endless amounts of delicious snacks. Merry Anne’s hospitality made us feel right at home and added a personal touch to our visit.

Our day concluded with a testimony meeting at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Burien, where Cindy and I both shared testimonies. The meeting was uplifted by a guest who joined later and shared an inspiring message. I’ll always be grateful for the sense of community and faith.

Before heading back, we captured the day's memory with a group selfie. We felt grateful for the new connections made and the fun moments we shared.

Our day reminded us of the power of community and the joy of sharing stories. We’re looking forward to many more days like this!
