Redmond: A good area for outreach
By Izzy Marvin
Wow, the girls loved Redmond! Mary Shank assisted the girls and gave them extra support in Redmond. On Wednesday, June 19, after getting their daily spiritual armor on by reading Sermon on the Mount, the girls headed to the Christian Science Reading room in Redmond.
They met with Paul Beeson and discussed the project and various spiritual healings he has experienced and witnessed. Paul was very kind and gave us a list of a few places, with addresses, the girls should visit for outreach while they were in town. This was very helpful to the girls, so thank you, Paul!
Redmond is a very good area for outreach work. The girls went to various areas that had strips of shops as well as an outdoor mall. The individuals working at the businesses in Redmond were all very kind and receptive to sample copies of The Christian Science Monitor Weekly.
One amazing experience the girls had was at a coffee shop. When the girls walked in, they were greeted and started to give their little spiel. The young man working at the front counter just took a couple copies of the Monitor without saying anything then said “cool!” This was a special experience because the man was so open and receptive and didn't question receiving copies at all and was very excited about the magazines. He had love in his heart!
After the girls finished outreach and distributing their 100 Monitor copies, they got to relax in the sun for a little while and get dinner.
After a little bit of relaxation, the girls attended the Redmond Wednesday night church service! The girls loved this church. It was full of enthusiastic individuals that were so excited about the project and what the girls were doing. Izzy wants to go back to this church sometime this summer. Thank you to the Redmond church community for being so loving, welcoming, and enthusiastic towards the girls and the outreach project!
Another shout out to Amy Burk for driving the girls back to the University District after church.
