Bellevue Square (part 1?): Staying out of the rain

By Izzy Marvin

This week Bella and Izzy were working solo! Kind of. Since Cindy was in another country, Mary Shank filled in to support the girls. We are all sending a huge thank you to Mary! The day of Tuesday, June 20, started with showing Mary the ropes of how the girls' days start. The three ladies chatted for a little while, read the Sermon on the Mount, then headed out!

The weather was unexpectedly gloomy and rainy, so the girls improvised and revised their plans for this outreach day. They had planned to go to Magnolia that day, but during the morning planning meeting Izzy mentioned Bellevue, specifically Bellevue Square so the girls could still do outreach but not get drenched!! Izzy tried to explain to Bella what Bellevue Square was like, a big indoor shopping mall, but Bella was so surprised at how HUGE this mall was.

This was an amazing location for outreach work because there are so many stores so close together. Overall, the individuals in the stores were receptive to receiving sample copies of The Christian Science Monitor Weekly but there were no gift subscriptions placed.

The day started off a little bit rough due to a few very rude employees and managers at a few of the stores, but Izzy and Bella brushed it off. Izzy likes to look at those “no” moments as just one step closer to a “yes,” and Bella views those moments as having the opportunity to share even just the name of The Christian Science Monitor, so people are familiar with it even if they hadn't heard of it before. When people are rude to the girls this shows them that those rude individuals need extra love, so they give it to them!

After the girls finished distributing their Monitors, they got to enjoy the mall and then headed home for the day! Overall Bellevue had receptivity and was a good spot for distributing Monitors.

There are so many more stores the girls didn't even get to. So, there is a possibility for Bellevue Square part 2 this summer!
