A Beautiful Day of Outreach in Wallingford
by Frashia Njenga
On Wednesday, June 11, I partnered with Lusho Hambiliki for a day that turned out to be both productive and refreshing. We began our day at the U-District Christian Science Reading Room, then set out to Wallingford to distribute The Christian Science Monitor Weekly.
We took the bus to get there, which gave us a great view of the city slowly waking up on a sunny midweek morning. The weather was perfect, bright but not too hot, with a gentle breeze that made walking a joy. Wallingford itself was full of charm. The peaceful residential streets were lined with vibrant green gardens, blooming flowers, and tree-lined sidewalks that made our route feel more like a pleasant stroll than work.
With our Monitors and good energy between us, Lusho and I were able to distribute 100 copies throughout the day. People were receptive and curious, and it felt great to watch so many thoughtful publications find new hands and new homes.
The combination of beautiful weather, peaceful scenery, smooth transit, and strong teamwork made it one of our most successful days so far. It was a reminder that the environment around us can be just as motivating as the mission we carry, and on this day, both worked together perfectly.
