A Day in Ballard: Filming the Life of an Outreach Ambassador

By Frashia Njenga

Friday, June 27, I had the opportunity to take Dewitt along with me for a special filming day in Ballard, one of Seattle’s artistic and community driven neighborhoods. Our goal was to create a “day in the life” video showcasing the real work of an outreach ambassador in the field.

From the moment we arrived, Ballard was alive with creativity. Colorful murals, and quirky storefronts,  gave us a dynamic setting for our shoot. It felt like every frame we captured had a little spark of the neighborhood in it.

We talked to store owners and workers and handed out literature. We were able to distribute 70 copies on the Monitor Weekly, a powerful reminder that every conversation matters and that people are listening.

Throughout the day, Dewitt recorded some fantastic footage, real, candid, and vibrant. We’re hoping this video will be featured in our final presentation to show the heart of outreach work, not just the stats.

It was a meaningful and energizing day. Ballard reminded us how impactful this work can be, and I’m excited for others to see it through our lens.
