Report on Recent Outreach Work
Sorry for not keeping up with the daily outreach reports recently. We've been busy! We've covered a lot of territory since the last report. Our team has been to Capitol Hill, Mercer Island, Issaquah, Lake City, Bremerton, Port Orchard, Queen Anne (upper and lower), and Kent.
We've had Josh Draskovich join in the outreach work again, as well as Frank Voorhese, when they went to Lake City, where it rained -- the only field day of rain this whole summer!
Izzy and Haley got to ride a ferry again to get to Bremerton and Port Orchard, where they had field support from Bremerton church member Rex Rudee. They also got to ride the Monorail to get to lower Queen Anne.
Besides giving out many hundreds of sample copies of recent Monitor issues, Izzy and Haley have now placed a grand total of 61 Monitor gift subscriptions in public places, such barber shops, beauty salons, cafes and restaurants, car repair shops, senior centers, a bank, and others. See link below. There are also more than 50 places that did not say No, that we can follow up on. Several church members have started offering gift subscriptions too, and have so far added 24 to the list. In all that's 85 so far. Our budget and goal is 150, at which point we get a bulk discount from CSM. So there's lots of room for more. Now is your opportunity to reach out to businesses and people in your area. Please send names and addresses to CSLitDist@gmail.com by Friday, Aug 19.
The grand calendar I created on the 8-foot whiteboard I put in the U-District CSL-JDC office at the start of the project has been almost entirely filled in now. We've visited the districts of all the Seattle area CS churches, current and recent, visited most of the CS Reading Rooms, and been to many of the significant commercial districts. What a wild, fun, and challenging 8 weeks it has been! We've started working on documenting the project, so people trying this again in the future, here or elsewhere, can learn from this project.
We've sent out separate invites for a celebration of the project for Friday, Aug 19, 6:00 to 8:30PM at the U-District office (presentation at 7:00PM) to committee reps, Western Washington CS church clerks and reading rooms. I hope some of you can come offer your congratulations to Haley Hill and Izzy Marvin for an inspiring job well done this summer. Zoom link is in the invite. Please be sure to let members at your churches know about it and get the Zoom link.
See you next Friday for our grand finale!
