Poundin’ it!!! at South Lake Union

Today, our outreach team "POUNDED it !!!"

“Pound it!!!” Izzy and Haley head for South Lake Union on their first day working together

Our second full-time worker, Izzy Marvin, arrived from Michigan via a flight from St. Louis yesterday. Today, for the first time Haley Hill and Izzy worked together doing Monitor outreach--and they are a force! As they like to say, they "POUNDED it !" Even with getting a late start on the day and having 45 minute travel time on public transit, together they far exceeded the outreach activity done any other day so far, giving out a grand total of 97 sample copies of the "Taking Flight" issue of the Monitor!

From Third Church in Seattle's U-District, they took the regional light rail and bus to First Church of Christ, Scientist, Seattle, in South Lake Union. Greg Palmer had given them tips on how to get there, and at the Reading Room he gave them an orientation to the SLU commercial area, telling them exactly where to go, which was SO helpful. Along the way they found some fun public art, "Cindy Lou's Cookies," a great curry restaurant where they had lunch, and the Amazon Spheres.

They didn't find any takers for Monitor gift subscriptions, but it sounds like they asked a lot of people, which is great progress. Considering how well they did on their first day working as a team, I'd say we have a super stellar combo here! Their enthusiasm for their mission is amazing and inspiring!

Until next time!
