Navigating Ballard: A Day of Independence
By Lusho Hambiliki
Today was a special day for us. Our adventure took us to Ballard, a vibrant neighborhood not far from the University District. What made today truly unique was our independence; we navigated our way around Ballard without the help of Izzy.
My teammate and I teamed up to figure out the bus routes, and after a bit of planning and coordination, we successfully made our way to Ballard.
Upon arrival, we began our mission for the day which was distribution. The day started off slow, due to the rainy and gloomy weather. Despite the overcast skies, our spirits were high as we began interacting with people. As we connected with more individuals, our energy levels were uplifted. Excitement and enthusiasm gradually replaced the initial slowness.
Throughout the day, we managed to distribute sample copies to 19 different establishments and secured gift subscriptions from four of them. One interaction, in particular, stood out. We met a lady from Truffles and More who showed interest in our work. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and she eagerly subscribed to our publication.
The day ended on a high note. We took a selfie, marking our success and the joy of navigating Ballard on our own. With smiles on our faces and a sense of accomplishment, we found our way back home, reflecting on the independence and teamwork that made the day so memorable.
Today wasn't just about distribution; it was about stepping out of our comfort zone, working together, and finding joy in every interaction, rain or shine. We look forward to more days like this, where independence and teamwork lead to meaningful connections and accomplishments.
