First Time in Friday Harbor
By Frashia Njenga
On Tuesday, July 22, Lusho Hambiliki and I took a trip to Friday Harbor to do outreach with The Christian Science Monitor Weekly, and it was my first time ever on a seaplane!
The ride itself was such a cool experience. Flying low over the water gave us incredible views of the islands, boats, and sparkling blue stretches of the Sound. Definitely something I’ll never forget.
Once we landed, we explored Friday Harbor and grabbed lunch by the water. It was the perfect spot with a peaceful view and tons of boats and yachts coming and going. After lunch, we took a little walking tour of the town. It’s such a charming place, quiet but full of character.
We also got some outreach in! We had some great conversations with locals and visitors, and it felt like people were really open and curious. It’s always encouraging to see how willing people are to connect when you approach with purpose.
All in all, such a meaningful and memorable day, first-time experiences, good food, good views, and some really thoughtful outreach.
